WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY

It is within protocol for your insurance company to request a compensation claim or multiple medical examinations (from their nominated doctors) after you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident.  Attendance is compulsory for you to remain eligible to claim personal injury compensation. The cost of the medical examinations and transport between venues you may partake in is covered by the insurance company you are claiming from.

Under the Motor Accidents Act, you may need to do the following in order for your claim to be successful:

  • Provide accident details including location, injuries sustained, medical treatments received and rehabilitation sought
  • Provide your past medical history
  • Prodvide details of any previous personal injury claims
  • Provide your employment information (wages and employment benefits – these are used to calculate economic loss)

Compensation for minor injuries arising from motor vehicle accidents

There are a number of circumstances in which you may be able to claim personal injury compensation for if you have sustained personal injury in a motor vehicle accident. If your claim is up to $5000 (which covers medical expenses) then complete and lodge an Accident Notification Form which you can download from here.

If you have sustained only minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident, you generally do not need to engage a personal injury compensation lawyer to make a claim.
