MICHELLE MARTIN - SENIOR ASSOCIATE
PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER

“I believe that honest communication with a client is of utmost importance. I aim to provide that level of service and assistance that I would like to receive if I were the injured client”.

Michelle specialises in Compensation law for individuals, conducting matters for clients in NSW. She commenced employment with Stacks/Goudkamp in 37712, and has been a practicing solicitor for 9 years.

Michelle’s expertise lies in handling Motor Vehicle Accident and Public Liability matters. A member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance and the Law Society of NSW, she is an efficient member of the Stacks team with a warm and caring approach to injured clients.

Personal Injury Litigation Experience

Michelle has handled a number of major catastrophic injury cases. She acted for twelve people who were injured in a bus crash in Albury, a complex matter which received a great deal of media attention. The bus driver, who had a complicated medical history of diabetes, had an epileptic fit at the wheel. Michelle acted against both the insurance company and the bus driver’s treating neurologist, who had given the all-clear for his patient to drive, obtaining very good financial results for her clients. She also worked on reported case, Keane v Caravan City Cowra, involving a client who was injured in a caravan park when he was struck by the flue of an old steam engine that fell on top of him. This matter was won in the Supreme Court.

Michelle often travels to see clients, both in Sydney and further afield, visiting accident sites and meeting with witnesses, doctors, family and friends of the accident victim. She has acted for many clients with brain injuries, such as nervous shock, and is extremely patient and compassionate in her dealings with all clients. Michelle has also acted for international clients who have suffered injury whilst in Australia on holiday, including clients in the UK, New Caledonia and Ireland.

Michelle presented a joint seminar on the Civil Liability Act at the APLA State Conference (Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association) in 37742, and also at the Young Lawyers Association in Newcastle and Parramatta.

Outside of Work

The mother of two young children, in her spare time Michelle claims to do “a lot of walking!” with husband and pram. A member of her local playgroup, she is also involved invarious school and pre-school associations. Michelle enjoys socialising with family and friends, and watching her son’s soccer games.
