I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to speak to you on the phone after we left court this morning, but I just wanted to write and say thank- you to you and your colleagues for looking after R’s case so skilfully over the past four years, and for all your joint efforts in bringing the matter to this very successful conclusion. I have sent the completed Medicare form to our secretary. We spoke this morning but it was a bit too early for me to communicate properly.

I respect you a lot for your effort and work during the case. I presume it was pretty obvious that I was determined to get some form of compensation and in the end of the day I am very happy with the outcome. You have been a very straight down the line type of person so you were very easy for me to deal with and I was always informed where I stood and what was happening as things progressed.

As regards the final sum, it gives me the opportunity to build a house on my fathers land and have a home without a mortgage. It is a golden opportunity and most of it will be built by my own two hands. As regards an income, I do quite well by selling some fish during the summer and also entitled to disability pension. My partner reckons I could sell a fridge to an eskimo!

As I said to you this morning make sure you that you look me up if and when you ever come to Ireland for a holiday, in fact I would be insulted if you didn't. I will hold you to that beer when I visit Australia.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for representing me on my recent claim which culminated in what has to be considered a very positive outcome under the circumstances you had explained.

(Nevertheless, it still riles me to be told by the insurer that I should have seen and taken more care and that I was culpable to a degree for the injury. The only relevant “care” ought to be that of the premise owner. A thin pebble cover on a hard, raised surface surrounded by raised buttress roots all but creates a scenario for an accident especially when the pebbles act as rollers under one’s feet. They could have just roped the area off or increase the thickness of the pebbles so that people’s footing finds it’s own level amongst the thicker pebble cover. However, it is not you I have to convince and it is irrelevant now).

The silver lining out of this unfortunate event is my encounter with you through your firm’s involvement.

At all times you and your staff have shown empathy and understanding in the handling of my case and my personal situation.

Kerrie, a Registered Nurse, was on her way to work in the heavy rush hour traffic when her car was rear-ended. The impact was with such force that it caused her car to smash into the taxi in front of her. Kerrie sustained bruising to her face as a result of the airbags’ deployment, and severe whiplash injuries.

Kerrie’s neck injuries impacted her ability to work both inside and outside of the home. Kerrie’s injuries restricted her from performing many of her nursing duties subsequently forcing to take on a more sedentary role at the hospital. At home, Kerrie struggled to look after her two small children and to run the house.
