Solicitor
Stacks/Goudkamp
Martin Place, Sydney
Emily recently joined the team at Stacks/Goudkamp, handling compensation claims
in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, medical negligence, product and public
liability. An empathetic lawyer with a terrific sense of humour, she is a member
of the NSW Law Society and the Australian Lawyers Alliance.
Emily is currently working on a diverse range of matters, from a public liability
case involving a woman injured when her stiletto heel became caught on uneven wooden
decking; to a product liability case involving catastrophic brain injury resulting
from a defective bicycle; and a medical negligence case involving devastating injuries
caused by a failure to diagnose a spinal injury. Emily understands that all injuries,
regardless of severity, have a huge impact on a person’s life. She is keen to make
a real difference to those who have been wronged.
Emily’s key skills are her warmth, approachability and down-to-earth attitude. She
has excellent research skills, honed whilst working as a volunteer for Interights,
where she provided legal research about human rights to lawyers and non-Government
organizations.
Emily has a passion for social justice, evident in her involvement in pro bono legal
work. Whilst studying in London, she volunteered as a mentor in the Youth Offending
Team, working with young people involved in crime. Her role was to provide support
to young people and their families, enabling them to stop offending and move towards
a positive future. She also worked alongside victims of youth crime, offering support
and giving them a voice in the youth justice system. This experience taught her
that patience and remaining non judgmental are essential skills in legal practice.
Emily has also volunteered at Legal Advice Centres across London, helping to raise
awareness of legal rights and responsibilities in the community.
A keen runner and cyclist, Emily relies on sport to keep her mentally alert and
stress-free, and plans to soon add surfing to the list. She loves the beach and
often takes with her dogs Alfie and Lottie, and is a self-confessed shopaholic with
a growing shoe collection.
Emily is a driven lawyer with a passion for giving a voice to those who cannot be
heard.
